European media research organisation

EMRO History

The former club is named after his founder Mr. René Dubois, first director of CESP (Centre des Etudes et moyens publicitaires) in Paris who in 1960 had the idea of inviting some of his colleagues from other European countries to gather for an information exchange on media research problems in a very informal way. First there were participants from France, Germany and Great Britain present only.

Since that the group of media researchers has increased and it has met on a yearly basis.

Presentations of new research projects including positive as well as negative aspects and questions are a productive basis for open and fruitful discussions. Personal contacts and the very familiar touch of the annual conference support the contents of our sessions. We are not and we do not want to be in any respect a competition to the well known activities of ESOMAR in this field, but an outstanding alternative and addition to its services.

A special thank you goes to Helen and Herbert Furrer, who during many years organized the yearly conference and established the Emro spirit as we know it today
